A common concern of all electric fence users is lightning strikes and a blown up energizer. The lightning protector reduces the likelihood of a power surge coming through the fence wires to the energizer. It offers a two pronged approach. Firstly, it inhibits the lightning surge from damaging the energizer by creating "a path of least resistance" and secondly it diverts any lightning surge away from the energizers into the ground through the earth spikes. It can be mounted onto a flat or round surface. Install at each corner of the fence for added protection.

The better you have set up your earth connection, the better your electric fence will operate, but also with the consequence that in principle there is also a greater chance that lightning will find its way to your electric fence sooner or later. Luckily nowadays there are plenty of excellent ways in which you can protect your electric fence against being destroyed by lightning strikes. And lightning protectors are cheap to buy and quick and easy to install.
