Product Details:
Magnetic hardwired door contacts are devices that can detect intrusions. Sensors may be placed at the perimeter of the protected area, within it, or both. These sensors can detect intruders by a variety of methods, such as monitoring doors and windows for opening and closing.
This is a common device in alarm systems where a reed switch is held closed by a magnet when the door or window is closed. Opening the door or window moves the magnet and the reed switch opens the circuit and the alarm is activated.
They are almost exclusively fitted as normally closed devices. Where the reed switch is held closed circuit by the magnet. On removing the magnet the reed switch transfers to open circuit. The operating gap (the distance from the magnet to the switch) varies from around 15 mm for small magnetic door contacts. More than one magnetic door contact can be connected to a zone. The contact should be fitted at or very near the opening edge of the door or window.
Features:
- The magnetic door contact comprises of two parts: switch/reader and a magnet.
- Opening the protected door or window will remove the magnetic field and allow the contact switch to open generating an alarm signal, if the system is armed.
